Cloning a Training Course
This guide covers how to create a training course inside Salesforce, from start to finish - Creating and Maintaining a Course. Quite often though, you may be able to clone an existing Course to make things quicker and easier.
1. Find an existing Course to Clone
The first step is to track down a Course to clone. A great way to do this is to use the training calendar. Just select 'Calendar' from the Salesforce navigation bar.
From the Calendar, you can further filter to find the type of Course you are looking for -
- Select 'Gantt' from the selection in the top right of the screen
- You can then split and splice the Course data using the selection box on the top left of the screen. This will default to region, displaying Courses split by Region
You can filter by anything you like - trainer, location, anything -
Once you have found a course that you would like to clone simply double click it to open it out in a new browser tab.
2. Clone!
Once you have opened the Course you would like to clone, there are just a few more steps. First, select 'Clone' from the top right of the screen.
Salesforce will load an interface from which you can enter the details of the Course before saving. You may want to tweak the capacity, or the location. You can change what ever you like before committing to the new Course.
3. Finalise the Course Details
Once you have saved your new Course, there are a few steps you still need to complete. Most notably, you will need to add Sessions against your Course. These will not be cloned from the originating Course and it is important you remember to add them. Sessions are important in controlling a Courses visibility on the website.
