Events Community Portal - Preferred Contact Name

Due to privacy issues, a solution in SF has been developed which allows our volunteers using the Community portal to have their preferred name visible against events and shifts.

There are two custom fields which are integral to the solution:-

  • *Field 1: “Preferred Name” - All internal users with read-write access to the contact records have read-write access to this field

  • Field 2: “Contact Name for Community User” - All users assigned to the “St John Event User” and “Executive” profiles have read-only access to this field

These fields are visible on the following Contact page-layouts:-

  • Event Resource
  • Student
  • Trainer

*The value in this field should be the volunteer’s first name only, because field #2 is comprised of a formula: = PREFERRED (first) NAME + LAST NAME
