Manage Volunteer Resources with St John Ambulance Qualifications
There are going to be instances where a volunteer has attained qualifications (student competencies) through St John Ambulance and these qualifications need to be linked to the volunteer's contact-qualifications-requirements to assist with the automated processes that follow (e.g. accurate notifications to the volunteer when their qualifications are due to expire).
1. Creating a Contact Qualification
Navigate to your saved contact (volunteer) record and click on the "Related" tab. Scroll down to the Contact Qualification section. Click on "New":-
Create the qualification - the first step shows you how to create a "Child" qualification (- e.g. "Provide First Aid"" qualification has no requirements attached to it. Whereas as "Advanced Responder" is a MAIN qualification).
If the child qualification is related to another contact-qualification record (e.g. Advanced Responder), link the record to the existing one by adding it to the "Parent Contact Qualification" field shown below.
Update the Status field as below and click Save.
Creating a MAIN Qualification & linking it to a Student Competency - If you're creating a MAIN contact-qualification (e.g. Advanced Responder), repeat the steps shown above but select type: "Main Qualification."
Navigate to the "Related" tab on the new contact-qualification record and update the status and expiry date of the related requirement records.
What if the volunteer has attained qualifications through attended a St John course? Navigate back to the contact record and make a note of the student competency number which relates to the contact-qualifications requirements which will now be attached to your new contact-qualification record:-
Navigate back to your contact-qualification record and edit the relevant Contact-qualification-requirement from the "Related" tab, by clicking on the drop-down arrow:
Scroll down to the "Student Competency"" field and enter the previously-noted student-competency number. Once you click on "Save", the Expiry Date field will auto-populate. Update the Status field accordingly and click Save:
