Discounting a Public Attendee
Salesforce provides the option to discount individual public attendees. Note that this is only available to some users in the system. Access to this feature is controlled via your profile and system administrator.
The first step in discounting an individual public attendee is the same as when making any public booking (discounted or not). You can see an extensive guide on how to do this here.
Salesforce has an inbuilt set of promotional codes. These can be for a certain dollar value or percentage and are controlled by your administrator. To discount a public attendee, one of this codes must be applied at the time of booking. This is easy to do!
You will notice a 'Promotional Code' box when adding public attendees to a Course.
This box provides a lookup to find the promotional code you would like to apply. You have the option to type in the code (if you already know it) or use the magnifying glass button to allow you to search for available codes and find the one you are looking for.
Promotion Codes are controlled by your system admin, they have the ability to add new ones or edit existing ones.
Remember, you must choose your student before you apply a promotional code to their enrolment!
Once you have selected your student and your promotional code, simply select 'Add Attendee'. This will automatically apply the promotional code to the student's enrollment. There is a handy column to see if a promotional code has been added.
You can then continue to make a payment in the same way as for a regular public booking (using the proceed to payment button). You will notice that on the payment screen, the payment amount will reflect the applied discount and there is a handy heading to display how much was discounted.
Different promotional codes can be used on a per-attendee basis, even when the attendees are going to be paid for in the same transaction.
