First Aid in Schools - Community Portal User Guide
This user-guide tells you how to navigate around the Community Portal, which has been set up for volunteers to have the ability to self-register against events.
Note: Once you self-register in the portal, the request will be emailed to the internal FAiS Team and they will review / approve your request.
First of all, you should receive an email notification from St John Qld Event containing details of your portal user-name and a link to log on to the site and set up your own password.
Once you log in to the portal (please log in using the standard Google Chrome browser).
You'll notice you have a series of tabs located across the page when you're in the Portal. We'll take you through what each one means in the below screen-shots.
1. Viewing Events
Click on the "Events EM" tab and ensure you select the "First Aid in Schools Events" list-view as highlighted below, in order to see all active FAiS events at a glance:
You can click on an event name in order to preview it in full:
2. Shift Calendar & Self-Registering against an Event
Click on the Shift Calendar tab and tick the box "Shift Available" as highlighted below, in order to see all available shifts.
Once you find a shift you want to register against, click on it and then select Register as shown in the below images:
NOTE: If the shift has spaces available to volunteer, the shift colour will be green. If the shift is almost full it'll be amber. If the shift is completely full it'll be coloured red and you won't be able to register against it.
You'll only be able to view available shifts if you required qualifications with St John QLD are up-to-date. This applies if you also volunteer in other areas such as Event-Services.
3. Chatter
There's an internal Chatter group for FAiS volunteer in the community portal, which you can request to join (if you're not already a member).
All communications mentioned (posted) within this group are shared only with the members of the group. This is a great communication tool and documentation can also be attached to your posts in here:
